Morelia, Michoacán. – Through a statement, the State Government announced that, this month, the construction of the Morelia treated water pipeline will begin for distribution to irrigation modules in the municipalities of Charo, Álvaro Obregón and Indaparapeo.
This was reported by Governor Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla, after the decision of the bidding process for public works was issued on December 14.
The governor emphasized that the infrastructure includes a pipeline of two pipes of 19.3 kilometers each, to bring sanitized water from the treatment plant of the Atapaneo tenure, in Morelia, to irrigation areas of modules II, III and IV, as well as District 020.
He added that this work will make it possible to take advantage of an annual volume of 37.84 million cubic meters (Mm3) of sanitized water for 3,650 hectares of agricultural area.
Ramírez Bedolla said that the supply of the Cointzio dam for Irrigation District 020 is 47.7 Mm3 per year and 19.8 Mm3 for Morelia, so with the new infrastructure 30.4 Mm3 will be released for urban use and with it, the gradual recovery of the aquifers.
