2023 was the most productive year for Vaca Muerta with record activity

The year 2023 ended as the most productive for the Vaca Muerta deposit in terms of the number of punctures in the productive area. The activity reached some 14,722 fractures, a record mark that meant an increase of 17.6% compared to the previous year. In addition, sources in the sector say that by 2024 it is projected to reach 18 thousand stages, a growth of more than 22%. However, as far as December is concerned, it closed with a drop in punctures totaling 1150, 11.6% less than the 1302 carried out in November. However, it was expected, given that YPF had one less fracturing team throughout the month and to this must be added the December holidays that also affected activity. For Vaca Muerta, Neuquén registers the highest production of hydrocarbons in historyThe Vaca Muerta hydrocarbon field once again brings good news to the economic activity of the province of Neuquén, with its best historical mark in terms of production. During the past month, November, 368,616 barrels of oil were produced per day, while gas production also grew. The figures correspond to the province’s Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, which also notes that gas production reached 82.22 cubic meters per day. These numbers imply a year-on-year growth of 21.55% in the case of oil and 5.35% in the case of gas. Likewise, it was reported that the accumulated production between January and November of this year rose by 21.1%, while that of gas increased by 3.07%. If we analyze the participation of the so-called unconventionals in the total production, in the case of oil they occupied 92.8% of the total, and in the case of gas 87.73%.
