Tlalpujahua, Michoacán. – “I found in music the best vehicle to rescue children from abandonment and give them the opportunity to be able to build a dream,” said Octavio Martínez Camacho, founder and general director of the band school, Rebeca Camacho Ocaña after announcing the public project that has attracted more than 400 young people to the world of artistic expressions.
Octavio Martínez, announced that this initiative was born from his own taste, and that of the country, for band music, where the children and young people who form part are the central beneficiaries.
He indicated that the four groups formed so far had their origin mainly in the rural area of this demarcation located in eastern Michoacan, and have participated in several events such as: a presentation (mañanitas) at the Basilica of Guadalupe in Mexico City, as well as a caravan on the Night of the Dead 2023, an event held in the streets and public squares of Tlalpujahua.
“Young people and children need attention and care, they need recreational, cultural and sports activities, and music is an excellent activity that also makes them better human beings,” he said.
Without thinking about the impact that such an initiative could generate, they currently have more than 400 students between the ages of 5 and 20, who are subject to a strict artistic education, based on their school careers, as well as the accompaniment of their parents, who are also immersed in the musical project.
It is worth sharing that after encouraging and bringing the children of the region closer to music, “they learned to work as a team, be disciplined and responsible with others”; With this, the population reach of beneficiaries has expanded since respect prevails among all relationships.
Camacho shared that parents have expressed their satisfaction with the project, which is why he wants to open more schools throughout Mexico so that more young people and children “have the opportunity to learn an instrument, to join in the healthy fun, to learn and to get their feelings out in a good way.”
That said, the founder concludes that one of his strongest purposes is to contribute to reducing insecurity in Tlalpujahua, Michoacán and Mexico.
