Llaryora assured that the benefits in transport will be maintained after the elimination of subsidies

In the midst of the controversy unleashed by President Javier Milei’s decision to remove transport subsidies in Argentina’s provinces, the governor of Cordoba, Martín Llaryora, announced a series of measures to counteract the effects of this national policy. Through a thread of messages on a social network, Llaryora assured that, despite the removal of subsidies by the central government, students, teachers and professors in the province will continue to benefit from the Free Educational Ticket (BEG). This measure, according to the president, seeks to guarantee access to education and provide support to families in the midst of the difficult economic situation that the country is going through. In addition, Llaryora reported that other programs such as the Social Worker Ticket (BOS), the Senior Citizen Ticket (BAM) and the Cordoba Social Ticket (BSC), aimed at different sectors of the population, will be maintained. To finance these programs, the governor announced that “budget allocations will be reinforced in the face of the elimination of national transportation subsidies.” In his statements, the president of Cordoba did not spare criticism of the measure adopted by the national government, describing it as “arbitrary” and expressing his solidarity with the mayors and governors affected by this decision. “I also want to express my solidarity with the claim being made by all the mayors and governors of the country affected by these measures that harm Argentine workers, students, retirees and families,” he wrote. Llaryora concluded his remarks by reaffirming his government’s commitment to citizens and its willingness to dialogue for the construction of a democratic, federal and productive Argentina: “The greatness of our country requires the moderation and sanity of its leaders.”
