The health union will hold a national strike next Thursday to demand wages

The co-secretary general of the CGT and general secretary of the Association of Argentine Health Workers (ATSA), Héctor Daer, announced a 24-hour strike by the workers of that union for this Thursday, to demand a wage increase. Faced with the intransigence of the business chambers, the ATSA Board of Directors decided to call for a national strike of activities starting at 00 hours on Thursday, February 22,” reported the co-secretary of the CGT through his account on the social network X. In this sense, the union leader warned that the union will carry out “all the necessary union actions for the recomposition of salaries” in the sector. In a press release, entitled “24-hour national strike of health workers in defense of the recomposition of our salaries,” the union detailed the reasons for the forceful action. Then they clarified: “The strike will be with presence in the establishment. This means that we will attend the workplaces, but we will not carry out care tasks. The implementation of the strike will be carried out covering the minimum shifts and attending exclusively to emergencies.” For their part, the workers of the Italian Hospital also joined the strike and announced the holding of “general assemblies”. The prepaid companies continue to increase their rates, but they freeze salaries,” said the general delegate of the Italiano, César Latorre, who confirmed the holding of “general assemblies” for tomorrow and a general stoppage of activities for 24 hours for Thursday, called by the FATSA. In this context, the union leader argued: “During the year 2023 our salary was 74% below inflation, the employers are gambling on lowering our salary in a context of unbearable inflation” and ratified the “need for a wage recovery in accordance with the needs of health workers”.
