Salta: the start of classes is postponed to March 4

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Technology of Salta decided to modify the School Calendar and established for next Monday, March 4, the start of classes for the Initial, Primary and Secondary levels, which was scheduled for February 26, after the request made to the provincial government by the unions of the teaching sector. We have made the decision to extend the school year and move the start date of classes from February 26 to March 4,” announced this Wednesday the Minister of Education, Science and Technology of Salta, Cristina Fiore.La official explained that the measure includes the Initial, Primary and Secondary levels “of all educational establishments, both public and private”, while the Higher Level maintains the start date for Monday, March 11. Then, the minister pointed out that “unfortunately, the concerns at the national level are doubts that have not yet been dispelled, but we believe that from the province of Salta we have to give certainty and certainties to the families of Salta who are waiting for a response, so we decided to extend the calendar.” In conclusion, Fiore said: “Complying with the 190 days of classes seems extremely important to us, because it is a state policy to work on raising the quality of education and this goes hand in hand with the number of days of classes. The recovery of these 5 days of classes will be defined in the technical tables, which will begin to develop from Wednesday, February 28, in addition to other pedagogical issues”. At the same time, on Monday, the national government convened the teachers’ unions with national representation and the ministers of education of the provinces and the City of Buenos Aires to “begin dialogues in order to agree on the national framework agreement for the minimum teacher wage.”
