José Luis Espert called for a tax rebellion in the Province: “You don’t have to pay taxes”

In a display of criticism of the recent tax hikes in the province of Buenos Aires, the national deputy recently incorporated into the ranks of La Libertad Avanza (LLA), José Luis Espert, and the president, Javier Milei, urged fiscal resistance against the measures promoted by the government of Axel Kicillof. “You don’t have to pay the taxes that Kicillof wants, I’m not going to pay it,” Espert said during the aforementioned interview, echoing his call for a “tax rebellion” in rejection of tax increases in the province of Buenos Aires. The regulations in question, approved last December and in force since January 2024, contemplate increases ranging from 140% to 200% in taxes on urban built real estate and rural land, depending on the asset valuation. Espert and Milei’s criticisms are not only aimed at the content of the tax regulations, but also at the management of Governor Kicillof, whom Espert described as a “vampire inside a blood bank with money.” The national deputy, in his attack against Kicillof, emphasized the need for a citizen response to what he considers a “phenomenal tax”, criticizing the lack of compensation by the government to taxpayers. “I call on the people of Buenos Aires not to pay the increase… It is the only defense that we taxpayers have when politicians do not give us as a counterpart to taxes something of what we pay,” said Espert during a radio interview. How will the Kicillof government respond to this challenge posed by the opposition? These are questions that, for the time being, remain open and that will surely mark the course of events in the coming months.
