ATE denounced a custodian for using a firearm in the middle of a protest

Different delegates of the state union ATE denounced on Wednesday a guard of the Secretary of Human Rights, Alberto Baños, whom they accuse of trying to draw a firearm in the framework of a protest. The episode, according to the presentation, took place in the Space of Memory and Human Rights (former ESMA), within the framework of a day of struggle carried out by the workers against the dismissals and the lack of certainty for the renewal of almost 100 contracts in the area, and it did not escalate since one of the workers interceded and managed to get the security to put the weapon away. The ATE workers sent Baños a note to notify them of the event, which so far has not been answered. “We warned so that there is a record of what happened, we also notified the branch and we are looking at other measures to take,” said the delegate, adding: “We are not out of our astonishment. Something like this has never happened to us, let alone within a space of memory.” In the same vein, they specified: “We do not resort to violence to exercise our right to express our disagreement and we hope that officials rise to the occasion and arbitrate the necessary measures so that no more security personnel try to draw their weapon in front of workers.” Our demands are twofold: to have information on the continuity of the dismissed workers and those who are waiting for the signing of contracts since behind each worker there is a family that suffers and there is a public policy that is being dismantled,” they also mentioned.
