Morelia, Michoacán.- Film producers and actors demonstrated outside the Morelia City Hall on Friday, where they denounced that the Morelia Police made unjustified arrests and confiscated their film equipment. Members of the production company “Ola Estudios TV” demanded the return of the money they paid for fines for his release that amount to more than 90 thousand pesos, after his arrest that they considered unfair by the authorities of the municipality, as well as the payment of a camera lens with a value of more than 18 thousand pesos. On the ninth of April in the Plaza de la Paz, when they were filming for one of their film projects despite the fact that the filmmakers had the required permits to carry out the filming. The arrest occurred at three o’clock in the afternoon and they left until the early hours of the morning, fifteen people were detained including a minor, the members of this film project indicated that they presented the permits issued by the Morelia City Council itself and the Ministry of National Defense (SEDENA) for the recording and use of prop weapons. One of the members of “Ola Estudios TV” said that he established communication with City Hall staff to which they told him that they could return the money within 3 months, which complicates the continuity of the project since several people are from other places and he needs to pay for meals and lodging.
