In front of businessmen, Caputo assured that “the worst of the adjustment is over”: “We are in a clear recovery”

After the recent rise of the blue dollar and financial quotations, and when some analysts warn of a stagnation of the level of inflation at around 5%, the Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo, tried to convey tranquility. It was during the opening of the Latan Economic Forum, which is taking place in the City of Buenos Aires, that the head of the Ministry of Finance said that the worst of the adjustment “is over.” There, he also addressed the businessmen, from whom he called for more forceful support. “Don’t be afraid to contribute. We are not going to disappoint them. And if the country starts to grow, we’re going to lower taxes,” he said, adding: “We’re very close to that and that’s why I think the level of aggression against the government has intensified in recent times.” Caputo highlighted the government’s motivation, driven by the support of the citizenry reflected in some polls and the firmness of President Javier Milei. “We are more motivated than ever, first by the support of people from all walks of life, who constantly thank us; then, because of the personality of President Javier Milei, who does not doubt for a minute the direction of the government and allows us to take the measures that no one dared to take for decades,” he said. The minister also highlighted the achievements made so far, pointing out that the country is in full economic recovery: “We are motivated by the results: we are in clear recovery, after going through a critical situation. We went from a five-point deficit to a surplus in one month and reached single-digit monthly inflation.” He also stressed that the speed of the recovery is contingent on the approval of the Bases Law and the awareness of citizens about their role in the process of change. “We see that the worst is over and we are in a clear recovery, the speed of which depends on two factors: the approval of the Bases Law and convincing citizens that change depends more on them. It is well established that this change must come from the public sector and it is not so,” he said. Criticism of the oppositionThen, the head of the economic team criticized the opposition, pointing out that for “a good part” of these leaders “politics is not a service, it is a business, it is money in some of its forms: suitcases, stalls, public works, boxes.” That’s what we’re changing and there’s better be resistance. That’s why you have to click: understand that for many, politics is a business. Because we touch interests all over the place, these guys stand up for what they want,” he said. According to the official, “people have already understood this. He doesn’t eat glass anymore. That is why we are not going to move from the north we have set for ourselves. The best thing we can do is to ensure macroeconomic order.”
