Independiente officially presented Julio Vaccari as new coach

This Thursday morning and after beating Banfield, Independiente presented its new technical director, Julio Vaccari, in a press conference held at the Libertadores de América-Ricardo Enrique Bochini stadium, corresponding to the fifth date of the Professional League. The former coach of Defensa y Justicia and Vélez recently returned from his vacation and signed a contract with the Avellaneda club until December 2025, replacing Carlos Tevez.During his official presentation, Vaccari expressed his enthusiasm for the opportunity: “I am very happy for this possibility. One is always excited about projects and, in this case, about the institution I am coming to. For me there are important things when it comes to making decisions. One, the most important, is feeling. The idiosyncrasies and the way of seeing football, to be honest, are very related”. In addition, he highlighted the influence of Marcelo Bielsa and Gabriel Heinze in his training as a coach and spoke about the responsibility that comes with managing a club in a delicate institutional moment: “Why Independiente and why not another? Because there is the smell of blood. I love it. I enjoy that. The preparation for me is constant. It never ends up with the coach.” And, finally, he made it clear what his objectives are: “In the short term it is to achieve a visible style of play, that people feel identified, that people are comfortable and to have a competitive team, that on all courts goes out to play in the same way. Those are the most important objectives. I don’t focus on the long-term ones: those will come as a consequence of the first ones.” On the coaching staff, Vaccari will be alongside Gastón Machín, Gino Navone and Gastón Saccani as his assistants. After the break for the Copa América, Independiente’s squad will begin the preseason on June 27.
