The coordinator of the senators of Morena, Ricardo Monreal, called on the Supreme Court of Justice to intervene in the conflict that the Electoral Tribunal is going through, after the majority of its judges supported the dismissal of President Jose Luis Vargas.
Monreal said an institutional crisis in the Electoral Tribunal would be “regrettable,” as he said the country needs strong institutions.

On Wednesday afternoon, by unanimous vote, five of seven judges of the Electoral Tribunal of the Judicial Power of the Federation (TEPJF) dismissed Judge José Luis Vargas from the Presidency of the Superior Chamber, and appointed Judge Reyes Rodríguez Mondragón in his place.
The majority group declared Vargas’ “unexcused absence” and called for the resumption of the public session that he had suspended moments earlier.
However, the election was described by Vargas as illegal, considering that the session was illegal and unconstitutional. He also announced a controversial action before the Supreme Court of Justice, to “rule on the legality of the acts derived from today.”
