Chile filed a formal complaint with Conmebol

After the draw with Canada, the Chilean Football Federation (FFCH) filed a formal complaint with Conmebol, in which it requested the “indefinite and definitive” suspension of referee Wilmar Roldán.Among the claims he made, he also remarked that he suffered rulings against him in the matches against Peru and Argentina, for the first and second dates respectively.
The main accusation was against Roldán, whom they called “absolute lack of impartiality” in matches in which the Chilean national team participated. Of the nine games coached by Mr. Roldán, the Chilean team has won only one, thus accounting for a strange statistic. In all the previous matches he has made blunders,” recalled the FFCH. The entity that regulates Chilean soccer pointed out that Conmebol previously rejected a request for suspension and used several media reports as evidence of the incorrect refereeing. He then pointed squarely to what was the 0-0 draw against Canada and that left several controversies, such as the elbow suffered by Rodrigo Echeverría, which was not called or reviewed in the VAR, and the “inexplicable” expulsion of Gabriel Suazo. In this context, the FFCH again requested the indefinite and definitive suspension against Roldán, “and/or failing that, with the maximum sanction applicable to conduct as nefarious as those indicated”. “Chile was arbitrarily eliminated from the Copa América 2024,” he said.
