One element of the National Guard was arrested in the early hours of 26 December in Mazatlan, Sinaloa, after allegedly setting fire to a man.
The guard was arrested along with two other people, one of whom was identified as his brother.
The events occurred around 4:20 a.m. in the Valle Dorado colony, between Avenida Las Torres and Santa Rosa, from the port.
According to early reports, the victim was apparently stepfather of the National Guard element.
The detainees were made available to the State Attorney General’s Office, where they are charged with murder.
On his Twitter account, the National Guard confirmed the arrest of one of its elements and offered its cooperation to the Sinaloa authorities to clarify the case.
