A district judge ruled that Banco Azteca and Elektra must respect schedules and restrictions in the state of Chihuahua, at the highest level of risk at coVID-19 epidemiological traffic light.
According to a statement issued by the state government, the judge rejected the lawsuit filed by both companies, owned by Ricardo Salinas Pliego, which sought to continue operating outside of restriction hours, in accordance with the authorities.

He also considered that his services are not essential at the red light, so they must follow the health provisions, as resolved by the judge, Salvador Tercero Jiménez Martínez.
“He also clarified Banco Azteca’s obligation to meet the restriction of activities in the days and times established by the state administration in the face of the health emergency, which were established with the purpose of lowering the level of contagion in the state and therefore the level of hospital occupation,” the Chihuahua government reported.
In addition, it recalled that it was up to federal health authorities and state governments to issue actions to combat communicable diseases, such as COVID-19.

This, after the ADN 40 channel, owned by Salinas Pliego, reported that a branch of Banco Azteca had been forcover by municipal police officers.
The media shared a video in which officers subdued some people at the gates of the establishment.
Both the governor and the businessman clashed with public statements following the events.
The Chihuahua Ministry of Health reported in the last 24 hours, 53 deces and 490 new contagions; a total of 2,866 people have died from COVID-19 in the state and 34,427 cases are confirmed.
