The land and air resources of Conaf and the Civil Protection System have allowed to limit the advance of fire towards populated sectors of the commune of Quilpué, however, by today the control tasks will be concentrated to confine several fronts in the Lago Peñuelas National Reserve.
The forest fires called La Engorda (Valparaíso) and Hacienda Las Palmas (Quilpué) have consumed 3,790 hectares at the moment, and maintain both communes with Red Alert. For today, the following Conaf resources are envisaged, Forestry company Mininco, ONEMI, Fach, Chilean Army, Navy, Firefighters and municipality: 27 brigades, 26 cistern trucks, 3 skidder, 4 bulldozer, 8 aircraft, 15 helicopters, 2 Chinnok heavy helicopters, 1 SuperPuma helicopter, 1 coordination aircraft, 1 detection aircraft and 30 fire tanks
During the afternoon and night of yesterday, 4 night brigades of Conaf, a detection aircraft of the Chilean Navy (allows to detect hot spots through thermal cameras), firefighters and technical personnel of the Civil Protection System.
For the regional director of Conaf Valparaíso, Sandro Bruzzone, the confinement of several fronts of the fire has been achieved, avoiding its progress, however, there is still a need to eliminate firelights in Quilpué and in the commune of Valparaiso.
