translated from Spanish: Residents of the village of Xoco narrate illegal logging of trees

The residents of the town of Xoco no one takes them out of their heads that the logging of 54 trees by a group of workers of the company Mítikah was a premeditated “ecocide”.
“I Killed Mítikah”, painted the neighbors in one of the trees felled in the street Real de entail, mayor of Benito Juárez, then last Saturday 4 May, capital authorities arrested 9 workers of the company that for years built a complex Housing in that area

The residents of Xoco planned to make a formal complaint on Monday, May 6, but the day after the first logging, on Saturday 4 May, the workers of the construction company returned with a new strategy.
To avoid that the rejection of the neighbors placed, in the early morning, two rows of metal fences to obstruct the sight and the access in the traffic refuge where the trees were.

At 4:00 in the morning of Saturday, one of the neighbors noticed the billboards and alerted WhatsApp what was happening. At 7:00 in the morning, another neighbor corroborated the fence, but said he didn’t know what was going on.
It was until 8:45 in the morning that other neighbors went up to the group photographs of vans with covered logos and trees felled.
Seeing what was happening, the neighbors wanted to confront the workers but they could not because the metal fences prevented them from passing. They immediately alerted two patrols who attended the event.
The workers showed a permit from the mayor’s office and the patrols withdrew.
The logging of 54 trees is not the only irregularity of Mítikah; The CDMX had already suspended the works
At 11:00 in the morning, the neighbors confirmed that 54 trees had been felled.
Mexico City’s Civil protection approached the area and stopped some vans. At that time, 9 employees of Mítikah were detained.
The neighbors were surprised to realize that only nine people had been arrested, because, they said, there were between 70 and 80 workers in logging.
René Rivas, representative of the town of Xoco and neighbour of the Colonia General Pedro Maria Anaya, commented that “never” they imagined that they dared to cut so many trees.
“At first they cut 7 trees was difficult to mobilize because we did not know if they were in trouble and we thought it was the only thing they were going to cut… It was also difficult as an assembly because we had to wait to find out what was happening. ”
Yolanda Garcés and Ofer Sánchez, inhabitants of Xoco, ensured that the trees could not be cut by having some pest or being in bad condition, because they were in good condition. While a witness working in the area assured that the trees were careless.
