Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Holland, the two stars of the Marvel cinematic universe, will re-enact together in “The Current War”, the film directed by Alfonso Gómez-Rejón (“American Horror Story”, “Glee”). It was thus unveiled through the film’s official networks, where the official trailer was shared. With an extension of a little more than two and a half minutes, it generated high expectations.The plot will focus on the story of Thomas Edison and George Westinghouse, who will be key to the development of the modern electricity system worldwide. For that, it will also feature the performances of Nicholas Hoult, Michael Shannon, Katherine Waterston, Matthew MacFadyen and Tuppence Middleton.

The film was actually released in 2017 at the Toronto International Film Festival; however, following the allegations against Harvey Weinstein – who was to be one of the protagonists – it was cancelled. After that, the project passed into the hands of several production companies, until finally 101 Studios acquired the rights, who will be in charge of re-launching it in theaters this year. Unlike the Toronto premiere, the director stated in dialogue with Deadline that he added five new scenes this time. In Argentina, as agreed, the film would arrive in September of this year.
