The government of Mexico City presented the list of cultural, artistic and entertainment activities that will be held from August 8 to January 11, 2020, highlighting events such as the Great Day of the Dead Parade, and a concert in the Zocalo de la Overwhelming Banda El Limón.
The so-called «Cartelera 2019, Mexico City, Cultural Capital of America», said the head of government, Claudia Sheinbaum, seeks to increase tourism by up to 30% in the remaining months of the year.

All the events on the billboard will be free, said the secretary of Capital Culture, José Alfonso Suárez del Real, as the purpose is to «expose, live and enjoy in an innovative way Mexico City».
Below is the list of activities:
August 8-18. «Scenic» festival that will bring together 400 artists in more than 20 venues in the capital through 120 free theater, dance, circus, performance, puppets, facilities, master classes, workshops and talks.
40 national and international companies will participate, some from Spain, Argentina, Belgium, Switzerland, Brazil, France, Uruguay and India.
September 15th. To celebrate the festivities, the Arrolladora Banda El Limón will be presented in the capital Zocalo. The Cry of Independence ceremonies will also be held in the 16 mayors’ streets, as well as in Plaza la Constitución.
At the end of the month will commemorate the 80th year of the band «El Recodo», so it will have a stake in the first painting of the capital to celebrate eight decades of existence of the musical group.
Between October 15th and 19th. For the first time in the history of Mexico City through various technologies, cempasúchil flower fields will be projected and cemeteries adorned by traditional offerings will be recreated in the Lake Minor of the Chapultepec Forest.
October 19. The «Alebrijes Pregón and Parade» will be held; pregón, is the communication song that will announce the beginning of the passage of the mythical characters of the Mexican cartoneria from Avenida Paseo de la Reforma to the Zócalo capitalino.
October 24. Start of Day of the Dead activities at the Revolution Monument.
October 25th. The Mega Offering «Altar of Altars» will be inaugurated in the first painting of the capital, a proposal to show the diversity of manifestations around the Day of the Dead with four altars from different regions of the country.
October 26. Mega Procession of the Catrinas from the Angel of Independence to the Capital Zocalo.
October 27. International Day of the Dead Parade, Polanco-Zocalo-Forest Chapultepec Circuit.
November 2. Great Day of the Dead Parade, with allegorical chariots, comparsas, bands; a delegation from China will participate in its ritual to pay tribute to its deceased and talks will take place with another delegation from Japan to participate as well.
November 8. The 500th anniversary of the meeting between Moctezuma and Hernán Cortés will be the year, so he will perform in Temple of Jesus, a staging of Vivaldi’s opera «Moctezuma Segundo».
November 9. Concert of classical music, within the same offering with Anne-Sophie Mutter and her violins.
November 17. Closure of the Day of the Dead ceremony.
December 6-8. International festival «Radical Mestizo» where more than 30 national bands will participate in various stages such as Plaza de Santo Domingo, Plaza Manuel Tolsá and Alameda Central. Highlights include «Residente» on December 8 in the Zocalo.
December 14 to January 11, 2020. Pre-posadas and inns will be held for mayors, concerts, carols, shepherds and the installation of the Ice Rink, «ecological and friendly with the environment, so that this tradition is innoised, modernized and remains a tradition of Mexico City».
December 31. New Year’s Eve celebration in Glorieta de la Palma located on Avenida Paseo de la Reforma. Participants will be announced two weeks before the event, to celebrate the arrival of the year 2020.
