translated from Spanish: Mendoza Red Cross will offer migrants free contact with relatives

The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is following with concern the humanitarian situation faced by migrants in the countries of the region, who are in search of better living conditions. Many have traveled long distances and are physically and mentally fatigued. For this reason, Red Cross Argentina is working on the planning, implementation and monitoring of humanitarian lines of action to improve the quality of life of migrants and their link with the local population, facilitating their community insertion. The Migration Action Plan is currently being implemented throughout the country, with a focus on the largest points of conglomeration of migrants: the cities of Buenos Aires, La Plata, Mendoza, San Rafael, Rosario, Santa Fe and Córdoba. The answer is a complement and support to the actions of the State, which is the first responsible for meeting the needs of people in its territory. Countries must ensure that migrants are not exposed to dangers and that they have their basic needs met, as well as facilitate reception and integration into arrival communities. In Mendoza, Cruz Roja Argentina will begin its actions this Friday, August 15 in its subsidiary (San Juan 907 -corner Alem- Ciudad). From 16 to 19h there will be a meeting with migrants who will have available hot drinks, free calls, sending arrival messages, possibility to charge their cell phone and use the internet.
