An Argentine judge on Sunday ordered the immediate release of businessman Carlos Ahumada, who was arrested on Friday for alleged tax fraud, journalist Ciro Gómez Leyva reported.
The journalist noted on his Twitter account that Ahumada’s defense provided as evidence the closing act of the December audit on the 2012 fiscal year, where the observations would have been resolved.
“Carlos Ahumada came out of jail. He’s at home. The judge ordered his immediate release for the ‘absurdity of the case’,” Ciro Gómez Leyva wrote on his Twitter account.

So far, the Office of the Attorney General of the Republic has not confirmed the arrest of the businessman.
On Friday, the unit reported Ahumada’s arrest in Argentina, allegedly defrauding tax of $472,000,236 pesos, for income tax (ISR) that he did not make.
The unit noted that the businessman was arrested at the international port Aeroparque Jorge Newbery, Buenos Aires, by the Federal Police of that country, along with “a cash amount of US dollars and Argentine pesos”, after a request was requested to issue a Red card to Interpol.

“This investigation was initiated in 2016 and was taken up by this administration, which resulted in pre-trial detention through the INTERPOL System, which will immediately initiate the extradition process,” the Public Prosecutor’s Office warned in a statement Friday .
