Mexico City.- Ramón Sosamontes, one of Rosario Robles’ closest collaborators, promoted a lawsuit to challenge the blocking of his bank accounts, decreed by the Financial Intelligence Unit (UIF). Francisco Javier Rebolledo, Sixth District Judge in Administrative Matters, ordered Sosamontes today to clarify his lawsuit before resolving whether he admits it to paperwork and whether to grant him a suspension so that he can access his accounts.
Sosamontes Herreramoro was Head of the Office of the Secretariat for Social Development from December 2012 to August 2015, when Robles held that position, and then fulfilled the same role when she was appointed Secretary of Agricultural, Territorial and Urban Development.The former former official never agreed to make public information about their finances or assets in their estate statements.

In a hearing in the trial against Robles a few weeks ago, federal prosecutors revealed that Sosamontes is involved in two cases diverting funds from the so-called Master Scam, which added up to 955 million pesos, but so far there is no order of apprehension against the former official. Sosamontes, a 67-year-old former guerrilla federal deputy, trained at UNAM, the Mexican Communist Party and the Unified Socialist Party of Mexico in the 1970s and 1980s, and then was the founder of the PRD and coordinator of its first seat in the Represe Assembly capital.
In 1999, when Robles replaced Cuauhtémoc Cárdenas as Head of Government of the then Federal District, Sosamontes took over as Delegate in Iztapalapa—before he was in Venustiano Carranza–, and was later Director General of the Auxiliary Police.
