The Ministry of Health (Minsal) on Tuesday introduced the bill to regulate the use of “vaporizers” or e-cigarettes in the Senate. In this sense, Minister Jaime Mañalich, indicated that the initiative seeks that the use of these devices have the same regulation that since 2013 has tobacco. The project “approves all tobacco products to the law that has been in force since 2013. (…) These devices will have the same standards as traditional cigarettes,” he said. He added that “they’re going to be treated exactly the same. This means: ban on marqueteo, free delivery, placement, point-of-sale surveillance, than in soap operas that people don’t show up vaping,” he added. Health Undersecretariat Paula Daza added that “these devices do cause health damage. They contain nickel, chromium and lead, and as a country we have to act to regulate these devices.”
