Federal authorities and capital slains clarified that the loudspeakers of the seismic alert in Mexico City were not activated and asked the population to report official means to avoid confusion such as the morning on Friday.
Mexico’s Seismic Alert System (SASMEX) stated that it has not issued any alarms since July 19, 2018 for an earthquake of magnitude of 5.9, occurred in Huajuapan, Oaxaca.
He also noted that “the seismic alert is officially broadcast on TV in the Valley of Mexico through the channels 11-IPN, 22 metropolitan television, CONACULTA, 7-TV Azteca, 13-TV Azteca and 40-TV Azteca”.
This morning the seismic alert was activated at the facilities of Televisa San Angel during the program ‘Today’. The live broadcast saw the drivers and TV workers leave the forums, generating alertness in those who watched the show.

Minutes later the C5 of the capital government said no earthquake was recorded and the alert was not triggered.

For its part, the National Civil Protection Coordination asked the public not to be fooled by rumors of earthquake and to inform theself through official sources such as SASMEX and the National Seismological Service (SSN).
In addition, he published an infographic that highlights that the outsisms are unpredictable and that to protect themselves it is necessary to practice drills frequently to know what to do in the face of some teluric movement.
