translated from Spanish: Conacyt will review scholarship applications rejected for mistakes on its site

The National Council of Science and Technology (Conacyt) will accept requests for financial support from graduate students abroad who had been rejected because of problems on the platform.
The Collective of Mexican Scientists Abroad reported that the Conacyt complied with the agreements of the dialogue table made between the researchers and the Deputy Directorate of Postgraduate and Scholarships.

In a statement, the collective of researchers detailed that the Graduate and Scholarship Directorate found legal feasibility and was able to resolve the procedures required for the formalization of support from the researchers of the EPE-2019 Call (2).
Last July, applications for scholarship renewal of at least 50 researchers were rejected due to a problem on the new Conacyt platform.
The argument for rejection was that the students had lacked the identification of the host investigator they work with, which was not the fault of the applicants but for the modifications that the Conacyt made to their digital platform, without clarifying how they had to upload this document.
Faced with this, rejected investigators detected the error and asked Conacyt for a solution to the problem as well as an extension of the deadline to forward its documentation.
In September they had a dialogue table and this Friday they were given a solution.
Abigail Jimenez Franco, a member of the research collective, detailed to Animal Político that the Conacyt will also give the opportunity to resubmit documentation to researchers rejected by other types of administrative errors.

“As for the restart of the stay Conacyt gave us the option to choose the original start date or re-calendarandand and start the period on November 1, most of us opted for this option since we had to stop the research and waste time working because of the insecurity of not renewing the scholarship,” he added.
According to Abigail, once the renewal has been accepted, the Conacyt has 10 business days to make the payment.
