Paris, France.- The Argentine Lionel Messi won the Ballon d’Or 2019 for one of the narrowest differences in the history of this award, taking only seven points to the second-placed, Dutch defender of Liverpool Virgil van Dijk, today revealed the magazine “France Football”, organizer of the trophy.
The Barcelona player scored a total of 686 points, for the 679 that received the central champions of the Champions League, which left him just one step away from becoming the first defender to win the prize since the Italian Fabio Cannavaro in 2006.
Away from both was the third, the Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo (Juventus Turin), with 476 points, who in turn obtained a comfortable rent on the fourth, the Senegalese Sadio Mané (Liverpool), with 347 points. There is the circumstance that neither of them attended the gala on Monday where the trophy was given.

Messi cemented his triumph in the votes (a total of 176 journalists from as many other countries make up the jury) from Africa, where he scored 187 points, and from America, where he collected 102 points.
However, in Europe, where both play and where Van Dijk took the biggest club title, the Dutchman had a much bigger harvest than his rival: 231 points versus 194.
