Dave Bautista on his departure from Marvel: “I don’t know if I want Drax to be my legacy”

The actor and former mixed martial arts fighter, Dave Bautista, announced his retirement from Marvel Studios and while he highlighted his career for the company, he also said he does not want that to be the job for which he is remembered. Bautista’s statements come days after the premiere of the “Guardians of the Galaxy Christmas Special” – for which from Filo.News, we chatted with its director James Gunn – for Disney + and to launch the sequel “Glass Onion: a mystery of Knives Out”, for Netflix. In this context, he was consulted about his professional present in an interview for the American magazine GQ.” I am very grateful for Drax. I adore him. But finishing was a relief. Not everything was good. It was hard to play this character. The make-up process was wearing me out. And I don’t know if I want Drax to be my legacy. It’s a silly interpretation and I want to do more dramatic things,” he said. Recalling his past in mixed arts and his move to the film industry, Bautista made a consideration: “I never wanted to be the new The Rock (in reference to Dwayne Johnson). I just want to be a fucking good actor. A respected actor.” “Honestly, I don’t give a shit about being a movie star,” he continued about the public and exhibition life that artists lead. “It’s the experience, knowing you’ve achieved something,” he said. Some of this issue was already shared with journalist Micaela Robles in an article for Filo.News, where she compared herself to her character in “The Army of the Dead”, and delved into the motivations of her career. I think in the end Scot is a simple man, I think he was forced to be someone he never set out to be.  I think that happens with me too, because I was so motivated in my career that I’ve sometimes had that moment in my life, I lost sight of what was really important as if I had worked very hard to support my family but by doing that I’ve also neglected them, and certain ways to spend time with them. It’s just that I sacrifice spending time with them, being with them, physically. You never really recognize it when it’s happening, it’s always in retrospect when you do it, when you start to understand and see your mistakes in life, I think there’s a lot of that; I also think Scott is a dry person, obviously he has a sense of humor, but he looks very dry and I think there is a great similarity in the personality of the character, “he told us in the note that you can read in full here. Moving forward, Bautista is preparing for the closing of his career at Marvel Studios that began in 2014, and will culminate with the promising “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3”, where we will see Drax and his companions again after the events that culminated in “Avengers: Endgame”, and “Thor: Love and Thunder”. In addition, he will present “Knock on the Door”, by the prestigious M. Night Shyamalan, along with the sequel “Dune part 2”, by Denis Villeneuve.
