Yucatan.- This day seven regional consultative assemblies are held in the states of Yucatan, Chiapas and Campeche on the maya Tren development project in which indigenous peoples located in the area will issue their ideas and proposals on this plan.
The National Institute of Indigenous Peoples (INPI) reported on social media that assemblies seek to guarantee the right of communities to decide their own development priorities.
Since November 15, authorities and institutions representing the municipalities and indigenous communities belonging to the indigenous peoples Maya, Ch’ol, Tseltal, Tsotsil, and others, from the states of Chiapas, Tabasco, Campeche, Yucatan and Quintana Roo, located in the area of influence of the Maya Tren Development Project, as well as the general citizenship of those states, were convened.
Tomorrow, seven other assemblies will be held in Tabasco, Campeche and Quintana Roo.
