President Andrés Manuel López Obrador reported this morning that according to the weekly count 581 intentional homicides were recorded and of them 114, were in Guanajuato.
Recognizing that Guanajuato has the highest rates of violence and homicide in the country, the president reported that they will send more elements of the National Guard to that entity.
The entity will be reinforced with a deployment of 5,000 elements, supported by the Defense and Navy secretariats, “we will inform you soon about the results of this action to address the serious problem of violence in Guanajuato,” he said.

In that week, Chihuahua was the second most homicide-killing state to record 53, followed by Jalisco with 43, Mexico State 42, Mexico City 28, California 27 and Michoacán 25.
On Thursday, January 30, 67 intentional homicides were recorded, of which 12 occurred in Guanajuato, or 18%.
Three states concentrated 39% of the killings: Guanajuato (12), Chihuahua (9) and Veracruz (5).
No intentional homicides were reported in six states during that week.
In 2019, it left an official balance of 35,588 victims of intentional and femicide killings, an average of 97.5 people killed every day. This is the highest annual number of murders on record in the country.
Guanajuato recorded in 2019 the sixth highest rate of intentional homicides with 44.95 cases per hundred thousand inhabitants.
