Morocco.- A 7-year-old girl was burned in her intimate parts and limbs by her parents, after arguing that the girl was constantly touching herself. The events occurred in the southern Moroccan city of Taroudant, when one of the family’s neighbors notified the police after hearing the child’s loud cries for help from the home.
After police investigations and the arrest of the parents, they realized that the girl had been burned by a metal rod in the vagina, as well as in the limbs of the body, in addition to having a severe infection in the affected area. According to medical studies, they determined that the abuses were perpetuated for months. When they were presented to the authorities, the 7-year-old’s parents justified her actions by saying that they had burned their daughter as punishment because she rubbed her intimate parts a lot.
