The mayors of the communes affected by the total quarantine announced by the Minister of Health, Jaime Mañalich, reacted to these measures to combat the spread of coronavirus in the Metropolitan region.
In this regard, the mayor of Santiago, Felipe Alessandri, said through his Twitter account that “quarantine goes on the right line. We were asking for it. We all have to take care of this pandemic and stay in the house.”

The mayor of Independence, Gonzalo Durán, added that minutes before the revelation of this measure, was informed by the Minister of the Interior, Gonzalo Blumel, so “we have already set out immediately to translate these measures into more precise instructions for all you.”
