The Federal Republic of Brazil recorded a total of 1,269 coronavirus deaths in the last 24 hours and confirmed 32,188 new contagions. From the latter indicator is that the country was close to reaching the million infected and already numbering 46,510 deaths, according to the country’s Ministry of Health. With 955,377 sick and the aforementioned number of death, Brazil is second in the world, behind the United States and increasingly narrowing the gap with that nation among those affected by Covid-19.In this context, last Sunday, several cities of the country, such as Sao Paulo, Brasilia or Porto Alegre, recorded demonstrations of followers and detractors of President Jairaron , where the social estrangement recommended by the country’s health authorities was not maintained.
Since February 26, when the first case was registered in Sao Paulo, the virus has expanded over all regions of the country and already affects 82% of its 5,570 municipalities, according to data from the Regional Health Secretariats.In this period, Sao Pablo remained the epicenter of the virus in the country and this time recorded a new record deceased , with 389. The previous one had taken place on Tuesday, when 365 were reported.The total number of deaths in that state amounted to 11,521, and the contagion to 191,521, although government projections estimate that the figure will reach 18,000 by the end of the month.
St. Paul, Rio de Janeiro (89,963 cases and 8,138 deaths), Ceará (84,967 and 5,282) and Pará (74,192 and 4,350) follow. Wednesday’s deaths include that of Chief Paulo Paiakan, an important Brazilian indigenous leader of the 1980s, the Articulation of the Indigenous Peoples of Brazil (APIB) reported. Under this scenario and without reaching the peak in the epidemiological curve, many states and municipalities began a phased flexibilization plan at the beginning of the month, which has been criticized by health specialists warning of the danger of a new rebound.
