The Attorney General’s Office (FGR) requested a federal judge to issue arrest warrants against 19 former officers from the then Federal Police for alleged diversions of resources by 2.5 billion pesos during the government of former President Enrique Peña Nieto.
According to Ciro Gómez Leyva’s newscast on Image Television, the Prosecutor’s Office’s request to detain ex-officials stems from a complaint filed by the Federal Security Secretariat.
Among the former public servants involved is Frida Martínez Zamora, former secretary general of the Federal Police; the former Secretary of Capital Citizen Security, Jesús Orta; as well as Jorge Márquez Montes, senior exoficial of the Ministry of the Interior.

The alleged diversion network was through the purchase of over-precioing aircraft, helicopters and patrols, as well as simulation in the procurement of these aircraft.
In the first report of the Federal Ministry of Public Security, in explaining the extinction of the Federal Police, to transfer its resources to the National Guard, the unit said it had detected irregularities, which were notified to the Secretariat of the Civil Service.

Among the irregularities, the authorities pointed to an investigation to «peculados representing more than 2 billion pesos».
«A complex systemic corruption scheme that has affected areas of security and intelligence in the country has been identified,» the report says.
