translated from Spanish: Minors were sexually assaulted by policemen following protests in León

At least two minors were sexually assaulted by policemen following protests in León, Guanajuato, precisely in the case of a young woman who reported being the victim of sexual violence on August 14, by municipal agents.
One of 22 young men arrested after participating in the demonstration – all of them were released in the early morning, without charge, Amnesty International Mexico said – recounted that when she was put on the patrol someone lifted her skirt and “put her hand up.”
The 17-year-old showed her stockings and her clothes torn.
She told her that she was hit in the head and handcuffed. “Inside the patrol… (an agent) pulled my hair all the way, he punched me in the nose, in the head,” the young woman said, as heard in a recording broadcast by the Children’s Rights Network.
In the face of the pain she was in, when the young woman asked if she had blood on her face, the agent told her “that she was not weeping, that if she had the eggs to show me that I had them to be beaten.”

Marcela Villalobos, president of Amnesty International Mexico, said they had contact with another minor who also suffered assault from police, beatings and touching.
“There are several who claim that they were assaulted, in addition to beatings there was sexual assault by the elements of the police. One of them, underage, spent the night in the hospital, in the Children’s Mother of León,” Villalobos told Animal Politician.
The young woman was still in the hospital until 2pm on Sunday, she was going to get a plaque, waiting for the medical discharge.

“It’s a very serious situation, just because it wasn’t just the arbitrary arrests, there were also assaults on journalists who were documenting the demonstration, there were beatings, threats, a journalist being beaten in the stomach, this criminalization of the protest is extremely serious,” Villalobos said, demanding as Amnesty president that there be an investigation into this case of police abuse and justice is done.
