During the Christmas Eve, Christmas and New Year period, in Mexico City, 593 festivities were recorded, although a red light is maintained until January 10 by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The number of celebrations is equivalent to an increase of 2,272% compared to 2019. This information was provided by the Mexico City Citizen Command, Control, Computing, Communications and Contact Center (C5).
The agency also reported that during 31 December 2020 and 1 January 2021, 225 festivities were reported, which have not been added to the previous ones.

Last December 18, Mexico City re-entered red light resulting from an increase in cases of contagion from the COVID-19 pandemic. 
With this, the government reported that it seeks to curb the increase in the number of hospitalizations. Towards the beginning of the decembrin festivities, the population was advised to avoid meetings with large numbers of participants and stay at home.
Among the allegations was last January 1st in Santa Maria, Huexoculco. Where there were more than 300 people gathered in a jaripeo. The event was scheduled to end until the next day, however, after the complaint the authorities concluded with the event.
