In the first half of May, annual inflation stood at 5.8% (compared to the same fortnight in 2020), the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi) unveiled.
While the National Consumer Price Index (INPC) recorded inflation of -0.01, compared to the previous fortnight.
In the same period, but from 2020, inflation showed rises of 0.30% fortnightly and 2.83% per annum.
Within the underlying component (which does not cover goods and services with the most volatile prices), the annual variation is 4.22%, where the highest increases in this fortnight were in processed foods, beverages and tobacco (0.45%); goods (.425); and services of lunchboxes, anchorages and taqueria, restaurants, mobile telephony, car maintenance, medical consultation and tourist services (0.37%).

For non-underlying ones, they are located with an annual variation of 10.83%; the highest increases in this fortnight were fruits and vegetables (1.74%), and agricultural (with 1.20%).
Inegi also reported that the main products with the highest price increase in this fortnight were the tomato with 15.68%; the chayote 18.93%; orange, with 9.77%; air transport 9.23% omelette, with 1.45%; chicken, with 1.39%; and pork, with 3.55%.

While the products and services with the highest price in the first half of the month were electricity (with -21.26%); melon (-14.90%); lemon (-13.5%); and green beans (-10.99%).
