Presidential National Renewal (RN) candidate Mario Desbordes responded to criticism against him for his repositioning of the collective presidency. The former deputy enrolled on Thursday, May 21, his list to compete against Senator Francisco Chahuán’s list for the rudder of RN.
In this regard, a group of party militants filed a claim with the RN Supreme Court in order to disable their candidacy and the nomination of the list it is on. The militants noted in a brief that Desbordes’ aspiration corresponds to “the establishment of the so-called indefinite snuring.”
In addition, they claimed that he would run for the third time in office, counting his assumption in the presidency of the collective following the resignation of Christian Monckeberg, in March 2018.
“We must respect internal democracy, we must not be afraid of the party’s democracy, it is the one that is not elected and I will be elected president of the party if the RN bases so want,” Desbordes said, Emol collects.
“You see the list that is at the forefront that I think does not represent the majority of the party, it is made up of people who have been openly making me strides, not everyone on the list, I want to be clear, not the whole list, but there are several who do. I would call on them not to be afraid of internal democracy and to let the foundations decide who the RN president is for the next two years, let’s not be afraid of that,” he added.
“It is a dissent that is legitimate, we are all part of the same party and hopefully this internal competition will be as loyal as possible and whoever wins receives the support of the list that is defeated,” Desbordes continued.
