The PRI is divided into Baja California, after its state president, Carlos Jiménez, called to vote for businessman Jorge Hank Rhon, candidate of the Solidarity Encounter Party (PES) to the state’s government.
At a press conference, the state leader said they will maintain the alliance with the PAN and PRD in the rest of the nominations, but that they will no longer support candidate Lupita Jones Garay because they felt she did not raise the expected support.

“There was no condoned empathy, there was no and no agenda was consolidated that met the needs of the militants and citizens of Baja California claim, that is why today we make and receive this writing and, we make a respectful call to the three national leadershipes of both the PRD, the PAN, and the PRI, to reorient the strategy,” he said.

Lupita Jones will remain a candidate: national PRI
At the call of the priists in Baja California, national leader Alejandro Moreno argued that Lupita Jones will remain the alliance’s contender and that they will continue to support their candidates.

“The decision of the Baja California State Committee was not agreed with the national leadership. Let’s be clear: The PRI will never join a candidate who is not on the side of democracy and who pays for the risk that Mexico lives,” he said.
Pri General Secretary in Baja California, Guadalupe Gutiérrez Fregoso, also delinquented from the call and assured that leader Carlos Jiménez has business with the entrepreneur’s son, to explain his decline.

“Things happen when they must pass and (he) has disclosed his resignation from the PRI’s state steering committee in Baja California. The Baja California PRI is more than a president,” she said at a press conference.
