William Joseph Lara, protagonist of the series “Tarzan: The Epic Adventures”, died last Saturday in a plane crash with his wife, Gwen Shamblin Lara, and five other crew members.
The aircraft in which Joe Lara was traveling, such is his stage name, was a Cessna 501, which within minutes of take-off crashed into Percy Priest Lake.According to a report from the Rutherford County fire and rescue department, in addition to the Lara couple, the other occupants of the aircraft who died were Jennifer J. Martin , David L. Martin, Jessica Walters, Jonathan Walters and Brandon Hannah.A spokesperson for the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) said they are investigating the incident and will issue a preliminary report in about two weeks. However, he assured that “The complete investigation will take a year or two to complete.” The aircraft had departed Smyrna Airport in Tennessee for Palm Beach, Florida. This Sunday, at the site of the accident, just a few minutes from where the plane took off, were different agencies working on the investigation and the collection of the wreckage.
The actor played Tarzan in the series broadcast between August 1996 and May 1997, and had previously done so in 1989, in the production Tarzan in Manhattan.During his career he participated in productions made in countries such as South Africa, Bulgaria and Russia, indicated the film industry information portal IMDb, which highlighted that he was also a pilot and a certified diver.
