Morelia, Michoacán. – The leader of the Industrial Union of Workers in Hotels, Restaurants, Bars, Recreation Centers, Areas of provision of public, tourist, similar and related services of the state of Michoacán of the Confederation of Workers of Mexico (CTM), Juan Carlos Velasco Pérez accused the entrepreneurs of the Best Western plus Morelia hotel of refusing to pay more than the minimum wage to the workers.

And it is that the hotel, managed by Fomento Turístico de Michoacán signed an agreement in which they agree to apply the national salary increase of this year that was 15 percent, so that the salary of the workers would go from 137.83 to 154 pesos for 75 percent of the staff.

The company that belongs to Fomento Turístico de Michoacán, argued that it does not have resources, which the leader said, it is not true, “it is true that they manage some liabilities, but they have not had losses, in every company there are ups and downs and other years there were many profits, so now there is recovery and they can pay the salary that was agreed.”
In this sense, he pointed out that during 2020 they stopped receiving several benefits such as transport support, scholarships, vacations, vacation bonuses, among others, so now they ask that the employer also respond to the needs and rights of workers.
