Michoacán.- P ́urhépecha communities adhered to the Supreme Indigenous Council of Michoacán #CSIM requested in writing the Electoral Institute of Michoacán (IEM) to carry out in a timely manner, the consultation scheduled for next Saturday, June 26 in Zirahuén, so that this tenure decides if they want to administer the budget directly.

The request was signed by the authorities of Santa Fe de la Laguna, San Felipe de los Herreros, Comachuén, Sevina, Santo Tomas, Caltzontzin, Huáncito, Ichán, San Marcos, San Benito, Corupo, El Sabino, Rancho Seco and Pamatácuaro, among others, expressing solidarity with zirahuén’s tenure and demanding that the IEM’s Commission for the Care of Indigenous Peoples comply with the commitments and agreements and carry out free, prior and informed consultation in Zirahuén so that the tenure may decide whether they wish to be autonomous and administer the budgetary resource autonomously.
