The 145th Epidemiological Report, published on Wednesday by the Ministry of Health, reported the lowest number of active Covid-19 cases so far in 2021. Specifically, the figure reaches 8,398 infected throughout the country.
If the cases are broken down by region, the Metropolitan leads the numbers, with 3,720 active cases, being the only area that exceeds one thousand contagions. In second and third place are Valparaiso (841) and Biobío (735).
Meanwhile, the highest rates of active cases per 100,000 inhabitants, according to confirmed and probable cases, are found in the Region of Los Ríos (68.0), Tarapacá (67.1) and Arica and Parinacota (58.3).
At the communal level, Puente Alto leads with 283 active cases. It is followed by Antofagasta (220), Santiago (199), Maipú (118), La Florida (180), Peñalolén (144), Arica (142), Concepción (139), Alto Hospicio (133) and Viña del Mar (132). Only 17 communes exceed 100 infected.
As of August 8, 2021, there have been 1,950,218 cases of COVID-19 (1,624,316 laboratory-confirmed and 325,902 probable, no laboratory confirmation), with a rate of 10,022.5 per 100,000 population.
