President Andrés Manuel López Obrador presented the return to face-to-face classes in Mexico and affirmed that although there may be COVID-19 infections to children and adolescents who come to the classrooms, they will be isolated and attended.
“It is a very important day because children, adolescents return to public schools in the country and private schools,” the president said during the morning conference on August 30.
He also stated that there was an effort by teachers, parents, municipal, state and federal authorities, as well as the union.
According to López Obrador, “it may be that a child is infected, but it can be isolated, it is cared for. There are doctors for that. It has been shown that boys and girls have fewer risks. And in the case of educational personnel, everyone is practically vaccinated, they are protected, anyway we will be aware and keeping all the protocols.”
“That the schools have information from the health centers, from the nearby hospitals, that there is a communication, that we organize ourselves well, health sector and educational sector, all the authorities, to take care of the children,” he recommended.

Preschool, primary and secondary school students returned to face-to-face classes today, amid the third wave of COVID-19 infections.
The Ministry of Public Education (SEP) implements a Health Protocol for the return to school; however, in schools, parents still question the measures applied by the authorities and the possibility of contagion of minors.
López Obrador insisted that the return to face-to-face classes is not mandatory, since he affirmed that it is the mothers and fathers, in addition to the students, who have to make this decision.

“Most will participate because the school is irreplaceable, is the second home, the school not only receives knowledge, it is a center of coexistence. Education is shared, it has to do with the feelings that are expressed between girls, boys,” she said.
“That children are no longer locked up, that they are not exposed only to the Nintendo, to all the toxic information that it damages,” he said.
In the 32 states, the new school year is beginning and “this week it will be improved, it will be normalized in the coming days and we will continue to improve the situation of educational facilities,” said the president.
