translated from Spanish: Reyes Rodríguez Mondragón is elected as the new presiding magistrate of the TEPJF

Judge Reyes Rodríguez Mondragón was unanimously elected as the new president of the Electoral Tribunal of the Judicial Power of the Federation (TEPJF).
The new presiding magistrate will remain in office until October 2024; the election comes after the dismissal of Judge José Luis Vargas Valdez, on August 4.
The magistrates of the Superior Chamber of the Electoral Tribunal met, privately, on Thursday morning.

It is not a secret that the Court is going through critical moments, part of the internal conflicts are associated with the lack of clear rules in the administration and in decision-making, said Judge Reyes Rodríguez Mondragón after taking protest.
He pointed out that the impartiality and autonomy of the Electoral Tribunal must be strengthened, in order to strengthen it as a true court of law.
“This is the time to extinguish any hint of outside influences or pressures from the powers that be, to strengthen the credibility and reliability of their decisions.”
