Authorities of the State of Mexico reported the breaking of the Cerro de Chiquihuite in the community of Lázaro Cárdenas, in the municipality of Tlalnepantla, which has caused one death and the disappearance of 10 people, including six adults and four minors, as well as collapsed homes.
Raciel Pérez, mayor of Tlalnepantla, announced the balance, while Governor Alfredo del Mazo asked Civil Protection authorities to support and expedite the work of securing the hill to prevent further landslides, as well as to locate the victims of the landslide.
The state president assured that at least 80 homes in the area will be evacuated, to prevent greater risks. He also reported that 2 shelters were set up in the town to attend to the victims.
When questioned about the cause of the landslide, Del Mazo said that probably the earthquake of September 7 and heavy rains influenced the accident.

The team of firefighters from Mexico City also went to the area of the collapse in the Cerro del Chiquihuite, to support the search and rescue of people.
The Police of Mexico City announced the sending of the binomials Target and Tecla, of the Canine Unit of the Banking and Industrial Police, specialized in search of people in collapsed structures and intervention, to support in the landslide of the Chiquihuite hill.

The National Guard also activated an emergency plan, so in collaboration with local authorities, it is already on site helping rescue bodies in the removal of debris.

State and municipal Civil Protection units, Tlalnepantla and Atizapán de Zaragoza Firefighters, Fénix Base, Red Cross, and elements of the Secretariat of Security of the State of Mexico arrived at Cerro del Chiquihuite, who cordoned off the area.
