Association of Prosecutors criticizes “disproportionate use of force” in raid on Comunes

Categorical was the Association of Prosecutors before the questioned raid carried out this Friday at the headquarters of the Commons party, indicating that what was stated in the record of the same evidenced a lack of criteria, with a disproportionate use of force, in addition to the violation in the procedure of legal obligations of reservation, pertinent to the investigation. In a statement, the Association indicated that “Prosecutors do not have their own police, and must therefore instruct one of the police to execute this judicial order. In this case, the diligence was entrusted to the Carabineros of Chile, impressing the images that were not very judeous in terms of the disproportionate use of force, the bearing of high-powered firearms, and the contemporaneous dissemination of this diligence, affecting the legal principle of reserve or secrecy and the dignity of the people involved. ” They also said they did not know “who, violating the legal obligation to reserve the investigation, leaked the performance of this diligence, an issue that is completely inappropriate, not only because it jeopardizes the effectiveness of this intrusive diligence, but also implies an unnecessary affectation to the rights of those who are being investigated.” In this line they pointed out categorically that “As a guild we absolutely repudiate what happened, and in addition, we note that the National Association of Prosecutors on several occasions has raised the need to make the necessary legal modifications to increase and strengthen the functional controls of the Public Ministry towards the police, with the purpose precisely of avoiding actions such as the one that occurred, and thus be able to guarantee full respect for the human rights and constitutional guarantees of all our citizens.” Here is the statement from the Association of Prosecutors:
