The Minister of Health of the Nation, Carla Vizzotti, announced this Friday after a meeting of the Federal Health Council, which includes the 23 ministers of Health of the country, the new measures before the discovery of the new variant in Africa, described by the WHO as “worrying”.
Accompanied by Nicolás Kreplak, her colleague from the province of Buenos Aires and epidemiologists, the head of the health portfolio celebrated that Argentina is in “a favorable situation” with a “low number of cases.” Despite that, Vizzotti emphasized that the pandemic “did not end” and highlighted the “relevance” of the use of the mask in closed places.
However, the most important novelty of the minister’s press conference was the announcement of a health pass for those over 13 years of age with a complete vaccination schedule who participate in mass events in enclosed spaces. Likewise, the successor of Ginés González García explained that another of the consensuses reached with her colleagues is that “December will be the month of the second doses”, since it is estimated that 7 million people can be applied the second one have not yet done so. Finally, and given the spread of the Omicron variant discovered in South Africa, Vizzotti confirmed that the restart of direct flights to the African continent, scheduled for December through Ethiopian Airlines, will be postponed.
