This is how Coco is today, the carayá monkey rescued from a clandestine party

In the heart of the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Belgrano, in the middle of a raid on an old house caused by a complaint from neighbors for annoying noises, they found a carayá monkey named Simón, which is now called Coco.It is approximately 6 years old and weighs and measures a quarter of the normal for an animal of its age. It is likely that he has always lived in a cage and that is why he has not been able to develop well. His body is completely stunted because he was the victim of abuse, mistreatment and chewing. He has fractured bones due to a high degree of malnutrition.
When they found him he was locked in a closet without light, water, or ventilation. The prosecutor’s office specialized in animal and environmental law of the city of Buenos Aires ordered that it be placed in the care of the NGO Pájaros Caídos. Coco is a carayá, better known as howler monkeys for his noises but he only emits a few sounds… it is likely that his vocal cords have been cut, a common practice in these specimens destined for mascotism. It also has no fangs, they take them out. When an animal is taken from its environment, reduced to captivity, it is condemned to die because it “de-learns” ways that make its survival and has been left in a state of total vulnerability.
The fate of this sentient being is in the hands of Justice. Meanwhile, those who did so much damage to Coco are free because species trafficking is punishable by fines not imprisonment. Hundreds of animals are victims of the black market for wildlife. Report.
