Pedreras de NL will raise prices up to 183% for “green tax”

Monterrey.- As of January 1, 2022, the pedreras of Nuevo León, producers of sand and gravel, will raise the prices per ton of their products up to 183% due to the new “green tax” of the state government, which will impact on the price of cement, concrete, blocks and other derivatives. As the entrepreneurs of the stone sector in the state had warned at the beginning of last November, the new tax with which the government of Nuevo León seeks to mitigate the high rates of pollution has been transferred to consumers, and which implies increases from 75 to 183% in prices. The Government of the State of Nuevo León has approved a new tax that calls it “green tax”, says the company Granix, in a letter sent to its customers, “which is related to the extraction of materials from the subsoil and forces us to apply a generalized price increase to all the materials we handle, this tax is reflected in 102.5 pesos per ton”.
