Here we tell you about some establishments with the lowest and highest prices for the basic basket in Mexico City and the State of México.De according to a study implemented by the Federal Consumer Prosecutor’s Office (Profeco), at the direction of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, the section “Who’s who in the prices of first necessity” has been announced in “La Mañanaera”. It is based on four regions established by the Bank of Mexico (center, north center, north and south), the food basket of the National Council for the Evaluation of Social Development Policy (Coneval) and figures from INEGI (which indicate four people as members of the average family in Mexico). The study covers that 21 products are the most consumed: oil, rice, brown sugar, beef steak, onion, serrano chili, pork chop, beans, white chicken egg, soap, tomato, lemon, apple, bread, potato, toilet paper, pasta for soup, chicken, tortilla and carrot. The retail prices of these products were analyzed this weekend throughout the country giving information about their direct costs in supermarket chains for Mexican families, in this case: in the Valley of Mexico.Francisco Ricardo Sheffield, head of Profeco, stressed that in the downtown area, which covers Mexico City, State of Mexico, Guanajuato, Hidalgo, Morelos, Puebla, Querétaro and Tlaxcala, the establishments with the highest and lowest costs for the basket are: Soriana Súper Eugenia 901, from the Del Valle neighborhood in the Benito Juárez mayor’s office of Mexico City, which is the first store in the top five where the highest price per food basket of 21 products marked one thousand 37 pesos. In third place is Soriana Hiper Gobernador General José Morán 3, from the San Miguel Chapultepec neighborhood in the Miguel Hidalgo mayor’s office of CDMX, with a cost of one thousand 14 pesos for the basket.
